Welcome to the Brownstone

Located in Manhattan’s East Village, our six-story building is a place where Jewish college students and young professionals from all different locations come to connect and form new relationships. Whether it be through our inspiring education courses and dynamic experiences, or our basement lounge – the Brownstone is designed to create an atmosphere that enables the Jewish NYC community to feel at home, and makes a big city like New York feel a little smaller.

Our Mission

The Brownstone’s mission is to encourage young adults to shape their own unique Jewish identities, lead active Jewish lives, and become empowered leaders committed to serving their Jewish community.

The Brownstone is situated in the perfect place for students from abroad who want to really experience America—they feel like they are right in the middle of the action, and the combination of warmth and professionalism is a real winner.

Miriam Kosman, Nefesh Yehudi

Our partnership with the Brownstone has had an incredibly positive impact on our programming – it offers the perfect facility for a meaningful educational and social program in the heart of New York city. We look forward to continuing our partnership for many years to come.

Andrew Savage, Executive Director, FJL

The Brownstone developed our program to meet the needs of our group. Since our participants were medical and law students from France, the Brownstone arranged speakers accordingly and introduced us to inspiring and influential Jewish lawyers and doctors in New York.

Having the brownstone in my life as a young Jewish adult in Manhattan has been truly amazing! I am very thankful I have something so close by where I feel accepted and comfortable. It’s an unbelievable place to call my Jewish home.”
